Free Calls to VoIP and IM destinations from Palm Pre and Pixi

We are announcing a new version of our Palm® webOS™ application that allows our customers to make calls to users of Skype, Google Talk and Gizmo5, as well as SIP destinations, using local phone rates with no additional charges.

The application is currently only available for Palm® Pre™ and Pixi™ and can be downloaded from Palm App Catalog.

Unlike similar applications for other smartphones, we do not require the caller to be a user of any IM service or provide any passwords.

The application is easy to use. For example, if you want to call a friend with Skype, just start the Voxofon application on the Pre or Pixi phone, enter the Skype username and you can instantly speak from the phone to your friend who is sitting in front of a computer using Skype somewhere in the world.

We do not charge for this service, and with most phone plans the caller will be using only local minutes.

Voxofon First With Mobile VoIP for Palm® Pre™

Application is Company's Fourth for Smart Phones

VOXOFON has expanded the availability of its low-cost international calling services by introducing a mobile voice over Internet (VoIP) application for the Palm(R) WebOS(TM) platform. The application is designed for use on the new Palm(R) Pre(TM) smart phone.

VOXOFON plans to make the new application available on the Palm App Catalog later this year. After installation the callers can simply click on the VOXOFON icon on the phone screen to place a low-cost international call. The application works anywhere the phone has coverage and does not require a Wi-Fi connection. In addition, there are no monthly fees or contracts.

VOXOFON's website, www.voxofon.com, has a special section on the new application, including a short video showing how to use the service.

Alexey Goloshubin, CEO of VOXOFON, says that as smart phones have become increasingly popular, the demand for such applications has increased. He notes that VOXOFON has pioneered similar applications for iPhone(TM), Android(TM) and BlackBerry(R) smartphones. Reviewers have praised VOXOFON's mobile service as "incredibly simple to use" and "must-have" applications.

"VoIP technology offers great savings for international calling, but until recently it hasn't been readily available on mobile phones, whose users have traditionally paid a premium for long-distance service," Goloshubin said. "We are very pleased to be able to add Palm Pre users to our smart phone customer base."

Beginning at 1.3 cents per minute, with no additional fees, VOXOFON international calling services allow customers to call using their smart phone, computer, land line, or a cell phone.

VOXOFON has been a leader in providing convenient mobile applications for its VoIP service, beginning with a web application for iPhone that was introduced in the summer of last year. In September 2008, VOXOFON was the first to announce an application for the Android platform - one that offered transparent cost optimization for international calls. The company followed with an identical application for BlackBerry smartphones in January of this year.

All VOXOFON services are available under a single account, providing customers with the flexibility to use the service they find most convenient.

VOXOFON LLC is based in Houston, Texas. For more information or a free test call, go to www.voxofon.com.

Let your relatives do the dialing even if they are overseas! No need to feel guilty!

Wouldn't it be great if your mother in Spain could just pick up the phone to call you in the U.S. without paying pricey international rates and without having to mess with a confusing PIN code? Well, it's no longer a dream! With Voxofon Virtual Numbers solution, you simply purchase a number in Spain using your Voxofon account and forward this new number to your existing mobile or landline number in the U.S.

From now on, your mother can just call your Spanish number, which is a local call for her, and your phone rings in the U.S.

The funds from your Voxofon account will be used for the low international rates that you would usually pay and for the monthly fee for the virtual number (from USD 5 per month).

*Please note: Virtual numbers might not be available in some countries due to their federal regulations.

Voxofon president says wireless carriers making huge profits on calls abroad

It was inevitable that when cost-saving Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calling became popular in the United States, all of the major telephone companies would eventually offer it – but not on mobile phones. In an increasingly mobile world, this means that wireless carriers are making huge profits on calls abroad, says VOXOFON President Alexey Goloshubin.

"Making an international phone call from a cell phone can cost a small fortune, and the wireless carrier will make at least a 90% profit on that call," he says.

VOXOFON is an international VoIP service that is known for offering wide range of low-cost, easy-to-use calling options, including applications that can be downloaded onto BlackBerry™ or Android™ phones, such as the T-Mobile G-1, becoming a seamless part of the phone's operations.

Calling abroad with VoIP used to involve sitting in front of a computer with a set of headphones, but in the past few years, the service has evolved, as new companies competed with innovative services for the long-neglected market share of friends, family and business associates trying to keep in touch – and travelers trying to avoid roaming fees.

Some telephone companies offer mobile VoIP for smart phones, but they require special software be installed, a phone that supports WiFi, and calling in a WiFi zone.

Goloshubin says he wants people to realize the money they are throwing away when they call abroad on their cell phone. "The worldwide recession will lead either to a reduction in the number of calls abroad or an increase in the use of VoIP," he said. "Why pay, for example, $35 dollars for a 10-minute call to Australia when you could pay 25 cents for the same call?"

He allows that most Americans make so few international calls they may think of an international call as a one-time expense and thus insignificant. "But a business with clients or offices abroad – or exchange students calling family and friends – that level of calling can put a big dent in the budget."

There's no comparison: Voxofon rates = Huge savings

The following prices are a sampling for international calls on mobile phones. Some carriers offer a monthly plan where you pay a fixed rate to get cheaper international calls. These plans reduce the cost of the calls, but you have an additional monthly payment whether you make the calls or not, and the cost is still four to five times higher than with VOXOFON.

The price comparisons below are for standard rates in USD per minute without the additional monthly payments.

Travel with VOXOFON: Avoid Roaming Fees!

If you are traveling with your U.S. SIM card, your mobile provider will add a roaming fee to all of your incoming and outgoing calls. With VOXOFON, however, you have three ways to avoid roaming fees:

1. If you will be traveling for a long period, you can purchase a local SIM card. You can then install the VOXOFON Call Abroad application on your phone, if available, or access our wap version: wap.voxofon.com. If you are using an iPhone, simply go to our website and use the familiar iPhone user interface.

2. Use the "Callback Other" function if you have access to any local phone where you can receive a callback. It can be a hotel phone, a pay phone or your friend's phone. Our application uses mobile internet to send a callback request to our server. The amount of data transferred is very small (a few kilobytes), but you should check the prices for data roaming so that there will be no surprises. To use the VOXOFON Call Abroad for initiation of callbacks, you will need to allow your phone to connect to the internet. Make sure that at that time all other applications that connect to the internet and download – for example, your emails – are turned off.

3. If you take your laptop with you, make sure that you don't forget to bring along your headset with a microphone. Almost all hotels provide access to the internet from your room. Open Voxofon.com and enjoy our lowest prices on PC to phone calls.

For any other questions about roaming, please contact VOXOFON support.

Why Nice Guys Finish First!

You’ve probably heard the saying “Nice Guys Finish Last.” It’s a phrase that has been applied to everything from baseball to dating. Well, when it comes to customer service, the opposite applies, especially in these uncertain economic times.

That’s why we are taking this opportunity to share a few of the top customer service guidelines we follow at http://www.voxofon.com/. These tips can apply to anyone—whether you own your own business, are a salesperson, work in retail or are actually involved directly in your company’s customer service department:

1) BE RESPONSIVE. The most important way to let customers know you care is to respond to their e-mails and calls as quickly as possible. They must always know that there is someone waiting behind the e-mail address or on the other line of the phone who is ready to answer their questions and address their concerns.

2) CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH A SMILE. The customer is always right. Yes, these are clichés but crucial advice. Arguing with a customer or responding with a negative attitude won’t get you anything except a bad reputation. Remember, people talk, and if they have a bad experience with your company, they will very likely to spread the word to friends, neighbors, co-workers, family…the list goes on and on. It’s not worth it!

3) ALWAYS LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THE CUSTOMER’S CONCERNS OR COMPLAINTS AND FIND A SOLUTION. No matter how complicated it may be. You may have to get creative. If you don’t have an immediate answer, that’s OK, but let the customer know that you will get back with them soon and then remember to respond promptly with your solution.

4) LET YOUR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS TRY IT BEFORE THEY BUY IT! A sneak preview shows potential customers just how confident you are that they will love your product enough to purchase it. Plus, there’s a good chance they will like it so much, they will want more and will buy it as soon as the test drive ends. It’s worth the investment!

5) ALWAYS ASK FOR FEEDBACK. You can learn so much just by asking customers what you can do to improve. Always ask for suggestions and ideas.

And we welcome your feedback right here on VOXOBLOG. What are your customer service tips? Do you think customer service is the top priority for businesses right now? Let us know about your VOXOFON customer service experiences. We would love to hear from you! Please post your feedback on our new blog or by clicking on the Support link at http://www.voxofon.com/.
